Gerald was an electrical designer for numerous civil engineering firms in the Houston area. In his leisure time he enjoyed spending time with family and friends as well as keeping fit, grilling, bbq-ing and playing golf.
Gerald is predeceased by his parents, Walter Dykema and Novelle Dykema, and brother, Hansel Dykema. He is survived by his wife, RaNae Dykema, wife of 38 years, daughter Kimberly Tucker and husband, David, daughter, Alicia Dykema and fiancée, Matt Greenwalt, brother Joseph Dykema and husband Guy La Plant, and several nieces as well as grand nephews and nieces.
Gerald contracted polio in 1949 and over many years doctors were able to rehabilitate him so he could lead a productive life with near normal abilities. Due to his relationship with Shriners Hospitals, donations to their organization would be particularly honoring to Gerald or if you wish, donate to the charity of your choice.
A celebration of Life will be held in the coming weeks.
