George was born in Houston, Texas on August 16, 1939 to the late Roy and Hattie McCullough. He was raised in the West End of Houston and attended Booker T. Washington High School. George was reared and nurtured in a Christian home by two strong pillars. A prayer warrior mother, Evangelist Hattie “Snooky” McCullough and his grandmother Sister Mary Smith. He realized early in his childhood that there was no escape, the hand of God was upon his life. He answered the Lord’s call 48 years ago and shepherd the Disciples of Faith Community Church faithfully until his death. George had a contagious spirit and passion for the things of Christ and his fellow man. He never met a stranger and talked with anyone who would listen. This contagious spirit was also evident for him in business as he was a lifelong entrepreneur. With an entrepreneurial mindset, George birthed several businesses – Mr. Gee’s, Gemac Enterprises and lastly McCullough Equipment and Instrumentation. Through these businesses he had the opportunity to work with several companies throughout Texas and Louisiana including but not limited to, Mass Flow Technology, The Port of Houston, Lisco, Prestech, Texas Oil, Valve City, Tanner Oil, QSA, Great Western, Texas Energy, Commercial Metals, Cameron Iron, Haygor Instrumentation, Tarver Petroleum, Gulf Coast Oil & Gas, Smart Shop, GSD, Davis Valves and many others. George did more than live, he built and generated a legacy. He left an indelible impression on every one he met – he never met a stranger, often looking for opportunities to witness about the “Goodness of Jesus.” Whatever corner of the world he found himself, it was his mission to touch lives. His resolve was to obey Christ’s teachings “Let your light so shine that they may see your good works and glorify the Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 On December 16, 1990 George met and married Wanda Faye Calligan. Their marriage was marked by divine favor and commitment. George was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Hattie Mae McCullough, brother, Leroy McCullough, and daughter, Angela McCullough.
