George Luckett, Jr.

George Luckett Jr. was born October 22, 1946 in Houston, Texas, the son of George Luckett Sr. and Georgia Lee King Luckett. Both parents and his brother Cecil preceded him in death. His early education was completed in Houston Independent School District. He then attended Prairie View A & M and Texas Southern Universities. In December, 1968 he married Mary Ellen Anderson. To this union was born three children Jennifer Lynn, Jason Lawrence, and Julian Lamont.   I Corinthians 3:13 “Every man’s work shall be made manifest for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.            At an early age he accepted Christ under the pasturage of Reverend H. L. Price at Greater New Hope Baptist Church. He worked diligently in the church as a young man but his most important job was that of husband and father, a role he took very seriously and performed tirelessly.   Romans 10:1 “Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.”                     He made a graceful and peaceful transition from his labor on earth to his heavenly Father in the afternoon on Wednesday, October 19, 2016.             He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Mary, daughter Jennifer, sons Jason (Debra) and Julian (Shannon), grandchildren Isaiah, Alana, Kayla, Antoine “Jay”, and Roderick, sisters Evelyn, Betty Jo, Shirley, Cecile, brother James, and a host of relatives and friends.
