He was married to Virginia Figueroa for 62 loving years. George enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and proudly served his country. He had a passion for gardening and yard work, music, all sports, the University of Texas Longhorns, Machine shop, the Dallas Cowboys but most of all, his family.
George is survived by his wife Virginia Figueroa, son George Edward Figueroa and wife Sheri, daughter Julia Figueroa and Susan Figueroa and husband Clyde Davison, sister Rebecca Flores, brother Reginald Rios and wife Lorna, grandchildren Kevin Slawson and wife Heather and Matthew Figueroa, great grandson Caleb Slawson, aunt Sally Arispe, and uncle Tony Garza and wife Bertha.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Albert Figueroa, and numerous aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 5, 2016 from 5:00 pm until 8:00pm with a Rosary at 7:00pm at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, Texas 77038. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at 9:45 am at Assumption Catholic Church, 901 Roselane St, Houston, TX 77037 with interment to follow at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, Texas 77038
