George Tilton Butler III of Spring, Texas , husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, went home to be with his Heavenly Father, on Thursday, the 6th of February 2020, at the age of 90.He is preceded in death by his parents George and Sadie Butler and his wife Mary Lynn Butler. He leaves son Dean Russell Butler and his wife Ann Marie Butler and grandson Blake George Butler all of Frisco, Texas and son Mark Randall Butler of Spring, Texas. Along with a sister, Beverly Bollinger and her husband Raymon Bollinger of Spring, Texas.
George was a proud native Houstonian. He graduated from Jefferson Davis High school in 1947. Following high school, he attended Rice University for his first two years and later transferred to the University of Texas where he was an honor graduate, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. George’s first professional position, out of college, was with the Mobile Oil Company, where he worked at the Beaumont, Texas refinery for his first 10 years of his long engineering career. George retired with a Professional Mechanical Engineer designation from Monsanto Chemical, where he spent the majority of his career at the Chocolate Bayou refinery located in Alvin, Texas.
George was a man of strong integrity, high morals, and of a deep Christian faith. George was a member of Grace Crossing Church of Christ in Conroe, Texas. George was a very intelligent man, a prolific reader, with vast knowledge of American history, to include an in depth knowledge of both World War I & II. He was very involved in the Butler family genealogy. Those who knew George understood that he loved to engage in intriguing lengthy conversation.
George was a kind man who loved and cared for his family deeply.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM with Funeral Service beginning at 11:00 AM in the Colonial Chapel at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
