welcomed to the family by parents Caroline and Peter Deptris, as well as older brother George.
She passed peacefully in the early hours of August 11th, 2019. She will be greeted in Heaven
by her son Steve, her husband Jim, and many more beloved family members including her dog
Tassie and other cherished pets.
Geneva lived a full life. She married Jim Adair in 1946 and graduated from the University
of Illinois with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology before starting her family. Geneva proudly
continued her education obtaining her Master's Degree from the University of Houston. Gen and
Jim raised five children: Carrie, Steve, Maureen, Lori, and Jeff. She was lovingly referred to as
Mema by her grandchildren Kelly, Katy, Karly, Kristy, Stephen, Rachel, Sam, Madison, Jimmy
and great grandchildren Myles, Isadora, Mabel, Jamie and Tiberius.
Retiring from H.I.S.D as a child psychologist in the early eighties, Geneva was able to
devote her time to her hobbies and interests. Gen’s favorite activities included gardening,
swimming, aerobics, sewing, and reading. Geneva and her husband were founding parishioners
of Holy Ghost Catholic Parish in Bellaire, Texas. She was also a participating member of the
Lithuanian American Community of Houston (LACH), as her Lithuanian heritage was a great
source of pride for Geneva.
A visitation will be held for Geneva on Thursday, August 15 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM with a vigil service starting at 6:30 PM in the chapel of American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038. The funeral mass will be held at Sts. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, 26777 Glen Loch Drive,The Woodlands, Texas 77381 on Friday, August 16 at 11:00 AM. A graveside service will follow at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038.
