Donnie-thank you for allowing us to assist you as you were with Gerry towards the end of a wonderful journey. Gerry was loved and will be missed by many. The video of your life together speaks volumes as did he even when ill. He always spoke of you. As before, if you need me, I am there for you.

Our dearest and deepest Sympathy to the Prieto family. I am so sad to hear of one of my good friends passing. I wish I could come to his services, but we are traveling to another city in Texas tomorrow! Our Prayers and thoughts are with the entire Prieto family and I will never forget his friendship. It's been about 35 years since we met and began working together in District IV. As for me, I felt a brotherly bond with you from the beginning and that has never diminished. During the most stressful times, you could always find a reason to show that big smile. I never told you how your smile, your stories, and your friendship blessed my days. I guess when we were young, we didn't express those things. We were to busy maintaining that "macho" image. My Brother, how I so wish that I had said them. 
I was remembering the time Terri, myself, Donnie and you, rode motorcycles to Huntsville State Park and I dumped the bike. The way it all happened still makes us laugh. 
Jerry, you have had and always will have a place in my heart until our Heavenly Father takes me home. I will then, see you again on the "Far Side Banks of Jordan".

So sorry to hear of your passing. I remember the lovely Prieto family growing up in Leawood. I loved hanging out with your family and going to the Alief football games to watch your games. I would occasionally see news stories over the years with you involved and I'm sure you will be greatly missed by family and friends.

I had the privilege to know Gerry for many years while at the HCSO.  He worked for me for several years in the Patrol Bureau.  I can tell you that he did all the right things and he did them for all the right reasons; and that my friends is what made him a standout.  He was a true gentleman and good cop.  Thank you for sharing him with us.

I knew Genaro from high school at Alief, he was my friend, and always admired him. He helped me 25 years after school when I needed it most. I will never forget this kind and strong man.

Oh Genaro...where to begin.  So many treasured memories. Lots of laughter and some tears. I'll never forget the many stories you would tell and some of the crazy things we did when we were growing up. I am so thankful that the Lord chose me to be your little sister. You will forever be my hero. I find comfort in knowing you are now free of pain and I have another angel to watch over me.  Until we meet again big brother, you will remain forever in my heart.

Jerry influenced so many young men through his manners and encouragement coaching teams over the years. Quite a loss to those who knew him. He will be missed.

Worked with Gerry for years, a great friend & a good cop... I enjoyed listening while he shared stories about the boys playing football & his years as a player... he was such a gentle soul who adored his family. Safe Journey my friend. God Bless

Jerry Prieto was truly one of the good guys! He was always there for his brothers when they needed him. Never wait when you have an urge to see an old friend, because it may leave you with a permanent void. Miss him already! Prayers for all the Prieto family.

Dearest Donnie and family,  I'm so, so sad at the loss of Sgt. Prieto.  He was such a wonderful person to work with which I was privileged to do so for about 7 or 8 years at Patrol Dist. IV.  He was so easy going and I honestly don't ever remember seeing him any other way.  Dist. IV was such a wonderful place to work, for the 14 years I worked there, we were all one big family.  I had your son's baseball pictures on my picture board in my office and now have them with all my other memories.  I pray for comfort and peace for you'all and will truly miss a wonderful friend.

Sgt. Prieto, Gerry, was a true Gentleman. I am proud to have known and worked with him at the Sheriff's Office. He will be missed by all who knew and worked with him. God Bless Gerry's family and may he rest in the piece of the Lord.

The Lord needed a blue angel in heaven. He lifted my little brother in his arms taking away all of his pain and suffering. I will miss your laughter, jokes and that one eyebrow lift when I said something I shouldn't have said. I know you are an angel in heaven looking after us. Rest in peace "little bro". I will miss you much!!

Sgt Prieto was truly one of the good guys in our department. Fair, honest and kind.

What a privlege I have to have known such a great man. We will be greatly missed.

My earliest memory of you was watching you walk up my driveway as my dad described how you, the big scary police officer, was here to take me away. Perhaps it was this introduction, the ongoing actions of bravery and selflessness in your life, your endless amounts of love to give, or a combination of all that led me to look up to you all my life. 

When I was a child I proudly told others of how I knew a man who was a police officer. At my current place in life I proudly tell others that I know someone who was a cadet at a prestigious military academy. Internally I have always seen you as one thing: idol. 

I hope that I am able to live up to the legacy that you have set out as a Prieto. Although your time in a physical medium has come to an end, you will remain immortal through stories, memories, and prayer in my eyes. May God welcome you with warm, open arms always and forever.

Dear Dad:  I have never been as eloquent as you with words so all I know to do is say what is in my heart.  You were the best father and grandfather anybody could ask for.  I have never known anybody with as much honesty and integrity as you.   You were a humble servant to your community who genuinely cared for all.  No matter how often I feel short of your example, you were always there for me full of forgiveness and understanding.  You were a true peacemaker who listened more than he spoke.  When you spoke your words were full of wisdom and honest advice. While I am grateful you are no longer suffering in pain, the void in my heart is indescribable.  All I know to do from this point forward is to try to live my life every day in a way that I know would make you proud.  I love you and I promise to never forget you.

 Dear Genaro: God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be, so he put his arms around you and whispered come to me.  With tearful eyes we wtched you and saw you pass away, and even though we love you dearly, we cannot make you stay.  A golden heart stopped beating,  kind gentle hands at rest.  God broke our hearts to prove to us he only takes the best.
