Genaro Bartolome Prieto, age 62, of Houston, TX, also known as “Jerry, Papa, or Sarge” to many others passed away peacefully April 9, 2016. Genaro was born in Paraguay on May 1, 1953 and moved to the United States when he was about 3.
Genaro was a graduate of Alief High School and also attended West Point, the United States Military Academy.
Genaro was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was an Army veteran and spent many of his years as a Harris County Deputy Sherriff. He loved sports and coached many of his two sons little league teams while they were growing up. He also loved motorcycles, classic cars and spoiling his grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Abelardo Felix and Ethel Prieto.
Surviving are his wife, Donnie Prieto: his sons, Jerry Prieto and wife Julie Prieto: Genaro “James” Prieto: his daughters, Shawna Marquette: Anna Bankston and husband Tommy Bankston: 14 grandchildren: his brother, Johnny Prieto and wife Yolanda Prieto: his sisters Peggy Pavlu and husband Alfred Pavlu, Connie Rauscher: and Deedee Franklin, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 13, 2016 from 4:00pm till 8:00pm with a Rosary at the end at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home in Houston. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 10:00 am at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family at a reception at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home.
