Gatling was born to Katie Lee Welch and Milton Arthur Garmany in Arkansas in 1926. This gentle, loving, kind, wonderful man has left a permanent mark etched on our hearts and will be greatly missed by all, especially his wife, Maxine, who was with him when he passed. Buddy and Maxine raised their three children Thomas, Larry and Sandra in Houston, Texas. Family was the pivotal essence of his life. He was proud and honored to be the patriarch, father, grand-father, great-grand-father, and great-great grand-father “Pappaw” to our large family.
As a very young man he learned to work hard and to take on whatever job was available to provide for his family. He served in the Navy from 1944-1946 on the USS Forster (DE334) RM-2nd Class. He was a college graduate. He was a Boilermaker for over 50 years and traveled all over the world.
Gatling is predeceased by his Daughters: Sharon Garmany and Sandra Jean Garmany Blakeney, his son-in-law William Arthur Blakeney, his sister Lethe Garmany Farris, his brothers: Clarence Thomas Garmany and Milton Arthur Garmany (Shorty), his parents Katie and Milton Garmany, and his in-laws Charles and Alma Salley.
His life was well lived; and he was well loved. He will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews and other beloved family and friends.
The Family would like to Thank all the healthcare professionals from the Cloverleaf Davita Dialysis Center in Houston and the Davita Dialysis Center in San Angelo, Dr. Fernando Alcocer, Dr. John Harvey, and Dr. Rudy Haddad of Shannon Medical Center and to Regency House Nursing Home in San Angelo for the excellent care they gave in comforting and caring for him.
