After graduating from Union High School, he enlisted in the US Navy where he served during the Korean War. While in the Navy, he learned skills in the field of electronics which led to a career in that field.
He is predeceased by his parents, Arnold and Arzetta, his sister, Karen Sue Nevius Johnson, his wife Betty Lou Russell Nevius, and his daughter, Marsha Lynn Trutschel. He is survived by his children, Jan Hearnsberger and her husband, Eric, Kurt Kridner and his wife, Joanne, Terry Lee Nevius, and Lauri Nevius Nelson and her husband, Brian. He also leaves six grandchildren, Dorian Watson, Jason Hearnsberger, Colin Watson, Kristen Kridner, Lindsey Hearnsberger Corley, and Sarah Kridner Ramos along with eight great-grandchildren.
He was fond of spending time with family at the many family gatherings. In the recent years, it was his joy visit his son in Hawaii on two occasions. His last year was spent at Paradise Springs in Spring, Texas where he enjoyed making new friends and having conversation over meals.
The visitation will be held at 12:30 PM on Monday, November 20th, 2017 at Earthman Resthaven, 13102 North Freeway, Houston, Texas 77060 with the funeral following at 2:30 PM.
