Fredrick Martin "Rick" Graham passed away on November 25, 2023, at the age of 71 in Houston, Texas. He was born on February 10, 1952, at Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas, to Addison and Martha Graham. He was their fourth child.
Rick attended St. Matthew Lutheran Church & School for elementary and middle school, where he was baptized and confirmed. He continued his education at Lutheran High School, where he actively participated in the Student Council and served as the captain of the varsity football team, playing center. During his junior year, he met his high school sweetheart, Patricia Everett. Rick and Patricia graduated from Lutheran High School in 1970 and were married in 1972 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church.
Discovering his passion for construction, carpentry, and building, Rick worked full-time with his father, constructing homes in the Memorial area of Houston. After work, he attended night classes to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Engineering & Technology from the University of Houston. Proud to be a Houston Cougar, Rick was an active member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He graduated from the University of Houston in 1978. Over his 40-year career, Rick worked for several construction firms, including Stewart Construction Consultants, Fugro, ENSR, as well as private consulting. He represented many financial institutions and managed numerous clients.
Rick was a devoted father to his three children, Rick Jr., Michael, and Elizabeth (Betsy), whom he adored. He took overwhelming pride in all three of his children receiving their college degrees.
Additionally, Rick took great pride in being a native Houstonian and Texan, enjoying supporting his hometown sports teams, including the U of H Cougars and Houston Oilers, Texans, Rockets, and Astros. Rick had a deep love for the great outdoors, always planning his next bird or deer hunt or a weekend of fishing on Lake Livingston. One of Rick’s favorite family traditions was the day after Thanksgiving, embarking on the Graham family's annual trip to Fredericksburg, Texas, for a weekend of deer hunting and quality time with family and friends. Rick was the self-proclaimed family historian, dedicating time to extensively researching his family’s history and genealogy.
Rick is survived and mourned by his loving family: wife Patricia, son Fredrick Martin (Rick) Jr. and fiancée Ally Hyek, son Michael Addison and wife Sharon, daughter Elizabeth and husband Jesus Beltran IV; grandchildren Kati Elizabeth, Fredrick Martin (Tripp) III., Margaret Jane, Evelyn Joy, and Honora Beltran (arriving this December), in addition to his brother AD Graham III, sister Suzanne and husband Roy Wolf, and many nieces and nephews.
