In addition, he is lovingly remembered by his daughter Sandra "Sandi" Gaido, daughter Molly Nordt and her spouse Billy, son Frederick James "Rick" Gaido, III and his spouse Amy, and daughter Amy Stine and her spouse Eric; grandchildren Riley Deal, Josh and Will Nordt, Jackson and Luke Gaido, and Silje, Gunnar, and Boden Stine.
Rick will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his strong work ethic, moral compass, and his deep faith in God. Friends and business associates will always remember his contagious laughter.
Rick was born in Houston in 1944. He graduated from St. Thomas High School in 1962. He also attended The University of Texas at Austin where he was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He met the love of his life at UT while she was a "Sweetheart" of his fraternity.
He spent the majority of his life in the restaurant industry, most of which was spent at Gaido's restaurant in Houston. Rick then continued his work in the hospitality industry at the Junior League Tea Room and the Cohen House at Rice University in Houston.
The visitation will be held at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 11:30 am, followed by a funeral service at 12:30 pm. Burial immediately following service. Pallbearers will be Josh and Will Nordt, Jackson and Luke Gaido, Billy Nordt, and Eric Stine.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made payable to Baylor College of Medicine and mailed to Center for Cell and Gene Therapy, c/o Office of Development and Alumni Affairs, One Baylor Plaza, MS: BCM160, Houston, TX 77030. You can also donate to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
The family also wishes to extend their gratitude to the doctors and staff at Methodist Hospital.
