Frederick Randolph Box

Frederick Randolph Box, age 88, of Manvel, Texas passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024. Fred was born in December 1935 in Houston, TX. He grew up in Pecan Park and was valedictorian of his kindergarten class! He graduated from Milby High School in 1954. He served in the Navy and then graduated from the University of Houston. During his college years he worked for the Post Office and American General Insurance. Fred married and had three children within five years. During these years he worked full-time and studied for CPA and Law degrees. In 1966 he received his CPA designation. In 1971 he earned his Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law.

After college he went to work for the Internal Revenue Service as an auditor and progressed to Chief of Appeals. He enjoyed his work and made many great friends throughout his lifetime. Fred married Sandra in 1974 and during their careers he was Chief, Appeals in Dallas, Denver and Austin. They enjoyed living in Austin until he retired, for a total of 27 years in Austin before moving back to Houston to be close to family. During the last 6 years in Austin he was on the Appraisal Review Board hearing property tax protests and really liked the job. When he and Sandra moved back to Houston he worked another 6 years on the Brazoria County Appraisal Review Board. During his retirement years one of his favorite things was cruising. His favorite cruise was to French Polynesia. Fred loved taking his children and grandchildren on vacations, teaching them how to swim, and others to snow ski during their 7 years in Denver. Fred was famous among his family and friends for his grilled steaks. In November of 2024, Fred and Sandra would have been blessed to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Winnie Box and his younger brother Harry Raymond. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Sandra. He also leaves behind his daughter Jennifer and her husband Jon Anson; children Meagan and her husband Adam; Jose' and his wife Lana; Freddy, Miguel, Lauren and Kimmy; son Randy and his wife Kim; children Michael and his wife Robyn; son Dakota and his wife Becca, and daughter Courtney; and Fred's youngest son Brett. Fred was also blessed to have 15 great grandchildren. Fred had so many good memories of birthdays, weddings, baby showers and holidays with family.
