This celebration represents the love we have for you and the blessings you shared with us. We are gathered together to honor a gentle and loving father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend; Brother Freddie Lee Bennett, who was born February 4, 1951 to Roosevelt and Hazel Bennett in Houston, Texas. He was the fourth child of a family of six; three sisters: Ida Lee, Doll and Linda and two brothers: Roosevelt Sr. and Larry. Freddie was the Captain of the football team at Jack Yates Senior High School, where he graduated in 1969. He then attended Prairie View A&M University for three years. There he met the love of his life, Rosetta Gipson. Freddie and Rosetta were united in Holy Matrimony on November 16, 1974. To this union two children were born: Corey and Teneil. In 1980, Freddie enlisted in the United States Army. Stationed in Germany, he served until 1986. He then became an employee of the V. A. Hospital, where he supervised in SPD and the operating room until his retirement in 2012. On Saturday May 2, 2015, Freddie departed this earthly life into eternal rest at the blessed age of 64 at St. Luke's Sugarland - Sugar Land, Texas. He is preceded in death by his mother, Hazel Bennett; father, Roosevelt Bennett; sister, Ida Lee; mother-in-law Cora Lee Gipson and granddaughter Virtues Adams. He leaves behind to cherish his beloved memory: wife, Rosetta Bennett; three children Yarvah Adams, Corey Bennett and Teneil Booker (Daron); two sisters, Linda and Doll; two brothers, Roosevelt Sr. and Larry; two grandchildren Kennor Adams and Dynastee Gibson; one great grandson Karter Adams; one special daughter LaKiesha Flood Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. His memories will be with us always.
