Fred H. “Freddy” Meyer, born on the 19th of August 1929 in Bad Salzuflen, Germany went home to be with the Lord on the 14th of August 2014 at his home in Hockley, Texas. Fred was raised and educated in Germany, and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree.
Fred worked in Real-Estate; worked for Texaco, Bank of Nova Scotia, and The Shorenstein Company/IBM. He enjoyed reading, woodworking and bike riding. He biked from Toronto, Canada to Chicago to attend a Rotary International convention for charity. He was a past President and a long time member of the Executives Association of Houston, Rotary Club and a JCI Senator. Fred strongly believed in Jaycee Creed that faith in God gives meaning and purpose to human life, and that service to humanity is the best work of life. He was also a Mason and Shriner. Fred was a tireless advocate of community service and will be missed by many.
Fred is predeceased by his parents; Friedrich Heinrich Meyer and Paula Reibke; and his beloved sister, Hildegard. Fred is survived by his wife of 36 years, Anne Hedda; two daughters, Elisabeth and Caroline residing in Toronto, Canada; sisters, Heidi Amrhein and Elisabeth Sonnabend, Bad Salzuflen, Germany; numerous nephews and other family and friends.
A memorial service is to be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning on Friday, the 22nd of August, at Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where Mr. R. Lynn Huff, North Woodlands area Church of Christ, is to officiate.
