Fred R. Flores, 95, peacefully passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at 8:00 pm in Houston, Texas after being on hospice for about 3 months. He was born on September 30, 1922 in CD. Allende, Coahuila to Silbestre Flores and Zaragoza De Luna. He is preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Frances Ramirez Flores. He was one of 4 brothers, and had 4 sisters. Fred is survived by his son, Fred Robert Jr., Sara Christine Meyer, Patricia (Patsy) Flores Zolan, and Vivian Weissmann. In addition, he had 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews who live mostly in Mexico, California, and Texas.
Fred was a WWII Veteran with an honorable discharge and served in the Pacific. He retired from the United States Postal Service after 33 years as a Special Delivery Postman. Fred’s passions were golfing since his 20’s, watching old westerns (especially John Wayne movies), bar-b-quing at Herman Park and Memorial Park, and vacationing especially in Mexico and California. Listening to music and dancing to the big bands like, Glenn Miller and Tommy Dorsey, were also things he loved. Being around his family, especially his siblings, were things he treasured. He was a wonderful cousin, uncle, son, father, and husband. We will all miss him!
The family will receive friends and family at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Forest Park Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale, Houston, TX 77023. A funeral Service will begin at 10:30 am. Interment will be at 11:30 am at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, with his wife, Frances.
