Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.brooksidefuneralhomelauder.com for the Craft family.
Fred was born in Bremond, Texas, 1935. His parents, Fred and Ruth, had one daughter, Geneva and three sons, Fred, Estel & Tommy. Fred was a hard worker all of his life. As a child, he worked the cotton fields and helped maintain the farm, even working in the smokehouse with his father. That is where his life-long love of animals began. When he was old enough, he delivered ice to farm houses around town. Fred always loved his animals, especially his horses. In his mid-teens, the family moved to Jacinto City.
After settling in Jacinto City, he met Yvonne and they married in 1955. The newlyweds eventually moved to northeast Houston where they settled. Fred built his own home where they lovingly raised 3 daughters, Sherry, Tina and Tammie.
Fred went to work for Allied Fence Company which gave him the knowledge and experience to open his own business, Craft Fence Company. He successfully ran his company for 25 years, well into the mid 90’s.
In 1993 Fred lost his granddaughter Cristie and his beloved wife of 37 years, Yvonne.
Fred was most definitely a Ford man. He enjoyed rodeos, boxing, the Dallas Cowboys, cheese and Blue Bell ice cream. Fred loved to dance and flirt and he was very good at both.
In 1995 Fred met Jean Leggett and they remained companions for over 20 years. They shared a farm in Goodrich Texas, which was his dream. There he took care of and adored his horses until declining health made it too difficult.
Fred returned to Houston in 2010 to be with and taken care of by his girls. The time they spent together will be cherished forever.
The family would like to say a special heartfelt thanks to Fray, Elizabeth, Judy, Brenda, Nicole and Vanessa for the love and care they showed for Fred in his last days. They are appreciated beyond words. They loved and cared for him as their own. Additionally, a heartfelt thanks to his dearly loved double first cousins Diane and Donald Ellis, Earl Wayne and Judy Hailey.
His memory will be cherished by his daughters and their spouses, Sherry and Rick Johnson, Tina and Joe Zorrilla, Tammie and Michelle Craft; grandchildren Mark and Veronica Zorrilla, Daniel and Veronica Zorrilla, Donnie and Nancy Knight, Sandra McPeak, Caitlyn Zorrilla & Cameron Brotherton; Mel Flores, Edward and Katie Flores, great grandchildren, Markey, Ariel, Sarah, Jacob, Victor, Anthony Luke, Ryder and 2 Tristen’s, numerous nieces, nephews and family.
