He was born in Houston on December 31, 1923 to Frank and Lena Priest. He was the oldest of three siblings, Francis and Johnny. Everyone called him FP. His father died when he was twelve and then he became the family provider. He worked at Reed Tool as a drill bit inspector for 40 years until he retired in 1984.
Frank and Martha Markwardt meet thru a cousin, Hermy, who worked at the same box factory as Martha. Frank came to pick Hermy up and offered Martha a ride as well. They dated less than a year before getting married October 25, 1948. They lived in Houston and have a daughter, Judy Kueck, and son, Frank Wayne Priest. They would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary in October.
He was a member of St Luke’s Lutheran Church, where he was a trustee and helped make brail books of the bible for several years. He was in the army in WWII. He liked to play checkers and dominoes. His favorite song he would sing to his kids, grand-kids and great grand-kids was “You are my Sunshine”. Favorite shows were Bonanza, Gun Smoke, Red Skelton, and I Love Lucy. His favorite car he owned was a white 1957 hard top Chevy convertible with red interior. And last, but not least, his favorite deserts were coconut meringue pie, lemon meringue, ambrosia (fruit w/coconut) and tapioca pudding.
Paw Paw, as is was called by his grandchildren, has nine grandchildren. Judy and John Kueck had six: Karen, Tina, Scott, John Wm., Kelly, and Kris. Frank Wayne and Nancy Priest had three: Jessica, Allison, and Meridith.
He has twenty great-grandchildren: Ryan, Valerie, Mikayla, Chloe’, Andie, Scott, Frank, Landon, Connor, Asa, Kody, TaylorLee, Dani, Madi, Kylie, Alyssa, C.J., Cody, and Easton.
