HISTORY:Born in Houston Texas on February 7, 1943, Frank Howard Jr. began his journey through life. He was the oldest son of Frank Howard and wife Ruby Mae Washington. From the long term, devoted union of his parents, Frank Jr. learned dedication and long term commitment to his spouse and family. Frank Jr. grew up in the Sixth Ward (also known as The Heights), where he developed lifelong friendships. HIs friends and family called him by his endearing childhood nick name "Champ". OCCUPATION:He understood early in life about the value of money and savings. When he was old enough, Frank Jr. worked at various jobs; and he eventually landed a job that led to a long term successful career at Unisource Worldwide. During his tenure at Unisource he earned numerous promotions, positions, and awards. He retired from Unisource at the age of 64.RETIREMENT:During retirement he and his wife moved to West Columbia, TX to enjoy the quite and peace of country living. There he decided to cultivate a garden where he planted watermelons, peppers, okra, corn, tomatoes, cucumbers, snap peas, onions, ect. He also took special care of his precious pets, Max, Bruno, Smokey, and Roscoe.Frank Jr. enjoyed selling recyclable goods for profit. He looked forward to family gatherings of joyful conversations, watching sporting events on television, eating, fishing and playing a competitive game of dominoes. ATTRIBUTES:Frank Jr. was a Christian who deeply loved the Lord. He was baptized at an early age; and throughout his life held various leadership roles in the church. He was ordained as a deacon and brotherhood positions in multiple churches during his lifetime. He also taught Sunday school and bible study until his health began to fail. He believed in the value of education and enjoyed reading the bible, novels, literature and staying abreast of current news and events. He was a man few words, but chose his words wisely, thereby gaining the respect and love of those around him.FAMILY:He was devoted to his life partner, and spouse Margaret Faye Victoria Oliphant. He blessed her by being her confident, best friend, advisor, protector, and advocate. They were married 53 wonderful years. Through their union Frank Jr. was a nurturing father of four children - Karen, Sharen, Frank III, David; and six grandchildren - Cynthia, Shelli, Sidney Jr. Eric, Melissa and Marie. He was a kindhearted person and loved his brothers and sisters and relatives and friends. REMARKS: When Frank Jr. became ill, he fought a good fight to live; but God ha other plans for him in heaven. During his illness, he became a familiar face at hospitals and clinics. He especially enjoyed the fine people and staff at Hermann Memorial-Medical Center because they took good care of him.
