Frank was born in Houston, TX on April 29, 1950. He attended Waltrip High School where he excelled in football. He followed in his father’s footsteps by playing for the University of Houston from 1969-1973, and holds the current records for “Most tackles in the 1970 season” and “100 yd return in 1971”.
Frank proudly served the citizens of Houston by joining the Houston Fire Department having graduated #1 in his class at the Houston Fire Academy in 1975. His 33+ years of service included promotions from Chauffeur/EMT to Captain in 1990, Senior Captain in 1994, and District Chief in 1999 until his retirement in 2009.
Frank and his wife, Sandy built their dream home in Artesian Lakes where he enjoyed spending time with his family, his neighbors and his dog, Peanut. He served on the Home Owner’s Association, generously gave to the community outreach endeavor, and supported efforts to build a community memorial garden. Frank was loved in the community of Artesian Lakes and was proud to have made several wonderful friends.
Frank is preceded in death by his mother, Vivian Ditta, and his hero, Tony Ditta. Frank is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Sandy, his daughter, Angela Ditta of San Antonio, TX, and step-son, Kyle Wilson of Houston, TX. Brothers:Willie Ditta and his wife Molly of Buffalo, TX, Anthony Ditta of Magnolia, TX., numerous other relatives, and lifelong friend, Pat Gavin.
The family will receive friends on Monday August 12th at 10:00a.m. Followed by a memorial service at 11:00a.m. in the Hunters Creek Chapel at Earthman Funeral Directors, 8303 Katy Fwy, Houston, Texas 77024
