He was born in Bocas, San Luis Potosi on April 2, 1933. He moved to Laredo, Texas at the age of 12 and was raised by his Uncle Jose (Guadalupe) Vazquez and became a part of their family as an honorary son and older brother. He graduated from the Holding Institute in Laredo, Texas in 1953 and continued his education receiving an Associate’s Degree. He joined the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Korean War.
After his military service, he married Nicolasa M. Robledo to whom he was married for 61 years. They settled in Houston where they raised their family. He worked for W.R. Grace and retired after 38 years. He was a member of the American Legion.
In addition to the immense love of his family and country, Francisco loved deep sea fishing, the outdoors, and was an avid gardener and craftsman. He had a passion for sports and loved the Houston Astros and Houston Oilers. He was an excellent baker although he felt he was novice at best. He also had a passion for learning and education which he passed down to his children and grandchildren. He had a sharp mind and enjoyed completing the daily newspaper crossword. He enjoyed the poets Robert Frost and Edgar Allen Poe and often recited their works. He was highly intelligent yet humble and much loved by his family, extended family, neighbors, and friends.
Francisco is survived by his loving wife Nicolasa; daughters Maria Narcisa (Hubert) Hernandez and Rosie Robledo (Rene Charles); sons Juan (Ana) Robledo, Sr., Frank (Debra) Robledo, Ivan (Maria), Robledo, Jose A. Robledo, David (Anna) Robledo, and Daniel Robledo (Leticia) ; 32 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Socorro M. Robledo whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents Leonardo Robledo and Narcisa Robledo (Vazquez) and his infant son Francisco Robledo.
The family will receive visitors at the Grand Chapel at Forest Park Lawndale on Wednesday December 9, 2020 from 5pm-9pm. A military symbol of life and final salute ceremony will begin at 6:45 pm. As is customary, a Catholic rosary will be recited at 7pm. On Thursday, December 10, 2020 an additional viewing will be held at 11am followed by a mass at 11:30am at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 4015 Sherman St, Houston, Texas. Committal services will be at 1pm at his final resting place, Forest Park Lawndale Garden of Angels, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, Texas. Masks are required for all services and for all in attendance.
