Frances Ann Taylor

Ann is survived by her four cousins, Susan W. Widner, Dr. Hartwell Whisennand, Richard Whisennand and Don Whisennand.

She grew up and went to school in Temple, Texas and then attended the University of Texas in Austin where she began working on a journalism degree but later switched to a business degree. When WWII began, she left school and accepted a secretarial position. She moved to Houston in 1943 and happily called it home. Ann worked for a major commercial property developer and later became Assistant Manager of Gulfgate and Northline Malls.

Ann’s happiest moment was her wedding day on which she married Allen Taylor in 1960. Ann and Allen both had no siblings and had no children of their own. They enjoyed their life together, working, traveling, and spending time at the bay on their boat.

Ann was an avid bridge player and had earned her Life Master. In earlier years she and her bridge partner traveled all over the United States playing competitive bridge. Later on she loved playing bridge at the Terrace where she lived independently for 14 years. On Saturday mornings she and friends met for coffee and doughnuts at The Terrace, donations going to the Periwinkle Foundation.

She was a member of First United Methodist and The Adelphi Class. Ann also loved going on Thursdays to have fellowship, a Bible lesson, lunch and play bridge with members of her church.

Ann was fiercely independent, strong in her beliefs, and enjoyed stimulating conversation. She was the family’s “Keeper of the Stories” and delighted in sharing them. She had a fulfilling life and she will be missed.

A graveside service will be held at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in her memory, The Adelphi Class, of the First United Methodist Church, Renovation Fund, 1320 Main Street, Houston, Texas 77002.
