Frances Catherine Oldham, age 98, of Houston, passed into eternal rest on Monday, the 18th of March 2013. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Frances always put her family first. She is remembered as an amazingly strong-willed woman with a wonderful sense of humor who brightened the day of those she met. Fances, a member of Houston’s First Baptist Church, was blessed the past few years by HFBC’s care team and especially by the friendship of Jan Bacon. She was thankful and expressed her gratitude to all who provided her loving care.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Oldham; and son, James F. Oldham. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Nancy Jane Purcell, of Houston; her grandchildren, Peri Gilpin Vincent of Los Angeles, Patti Jo Wynne of Dallas, and Brandon Kyle Wood of Houston; and her great-grandchildren, Stella, Ava, Sam, Daisy, Megan, Jacob and Layla.
An interment and graveside service is to be conducted at three o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 23rd of March, at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston, where Rev. Larry Lilley, of Houston’s First Baptist Church, is to officiate.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be directed to Houston Hospice, 1905 Holcombe Blvd., Houston, TX, 77030.
