He graduated high school in Texarkana Arkansas 1957. He came to Houston and entered Jr college but would rather work and make money. So he dropped out and went to work for an industrial plastic firm that was just starting up. He worked his way up to national sales manager. was number one in sales his entire career. His loyalty and integrity took him far with his customers to this day they all hold him in high esteem.
When he retired in June of 1999, he began to drive a school bus as he wanted to give back to the children he was away from so much of the time. He drove for 7 years until his mental status became compromised. He said it was the best years of his life, loving those kids and helping them stay on the straight and narrow. I can not count how many lives were changed because of Floyd Chapman.
He is survived by his wife Ann Chapman. His son Brian Chapman both of April Sound, and is proceeded in death by his son Robby Chapman. Although he had no siblings of his own he quickly became the brother to Anns siblings who are sisters -in- law Carol, Debbie, brothers- in-law Robert Funderburg, Bill Matney and Ari deFaria. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews who all loved him dearly.
He fought a valiant fight with dementia only to lose this battle May 8,2015. We know heaven is now a better place because of his departure. He has not seen his son Robby for over 16 years but Friday morning, they were in each other’s arms rejoicing and planning a fishing trip.
