Florencio has worked as an aircraft avionics mechanic technician for the majority of his life and has enjoyed traveling worldwide in this capacity. Upon coming to Galveston, Texas, he worked at the UTMB Moody Library from where he retired at age 80. He and his wife initially spent his retirement years with his son and daughter-in-law in San Francisco Bay Area then recently moved back to Houston to live with his daughter. He has been independent until the last few remaining years of his life which he enjoyed with the help of his fun-loving and dutiful caregivers. He is survived by his spouse, Paciencia, his son, Mayen, and his daughter-in-law, Lennie, his daughter, Divina, and his sister, Ruperta,
A memorial service for Florencio will be held Friday, July 14, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077. A committal service will be held after the memorial service. A reception will occur Friday, July 14, 2023 from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM, at the funeral home.

When Florencio C. Tuazon walked into the room, those in his company felt energy, an enthusiastic spontaneity. This was just one example of who Florencio was and how he impacted those around him. Florencio was a clever and gregarious person who always sought out the finest attributes in other people. It was as if Florencio wanted to share all of their experiences, revel in their lives and celebrate their discoveries. Florencio was tireless and had boundless enthusiasm that would serve him well throughout his life.
He was the son of Juan and Benigna Tuazon. Always at the ready with a good joke, he grew up to be quite a humorous person. While some who knew Florencio might describe him as an idealist, his friends and family understood well that Florencio was always in pursuit of life’s endless possibilities and opportunities available to him.
Florencio was raised with five siblings. He had 4 younger sisters, Soledad, Francisca, Lucila, and Ruperta, and the youngest, a brother, Maximo. Florencio was very accepting and supportive of his family. He was perceived as the central person in his family in terms of keeping communication open between the family members. Whenever discord or tension arose within the home, Florencio was typically the member who brought about resolution and harmony. These traits served Florencio well in his adult life and, along with his wit, outgoing personality, and understanding of others, drew the admiration of many who knew him.
As a young boy, Florencio was able to empathize and identify with a vast array of people and personality types. This quality drew him into a diverse group of friends and acquaintances. Florencio was intelligent and had little trouble getting along with his peers. He was almost always the first to jump in when it came to playing games or participating in other childhood activities. Florencio took part in basketball and baseball. In his spare time he liked going to the rice fields, catching snails and fishing. Florencio had the ability to find amusement with almost any activity he and the many childhood friends he shared might discover.
Florencio did well in college, as a result of his comfort level with tackling new theories and his love of learning. He attended the radio correspondence course. Florencio was very adaptable, a quality that helped him make the transition from high school to college with little difficulty. As a result, Florencio's problem solving skills and thirst for new knowledge almost guaranteed that he enjoyed virtually every class he took. Florencio was always in quest of new things to learn and experience
On August 17, 1961 Florencio married Paciencia Manucdoc at Loreto Parish Church of Sampaloc, Manila. Florencio's skill at “building bridges” played an important role in his ability to make his new family happy. He was quite sensitive towards Pacing's needs, showing his constant concern and fondness. Florencio was tenderhearted and sensitive, qualities that served him well in helping to nurture his family.
Florencio was a natural and creative parent who was willing to provide his family with all sorts of new and interesting experiences. For Florencio, parenting was a particularly enjoyable and pleasurable part of his life. Every activity, from chores to bedtime routines, became a game in the Tuazon home. Florencio's skill at understanding his children's feelings, his sensitivity to their needs, and his gift for gentle persuasion enabled him to find novel solutions to any problem or situation that might crop up. Florencio was blessed with 2 children: One son, Mayen, and one daughter, Divina.
Florencio was uplifted by new ideas and was excited by life’s possibilities, traits that made him an exceptional worker. His primary occupation was aircraft avionics mechanic technician. Florencio was enterprising, inventive and working against deadlines seemed to energize him. Florencio had the uncanny ability to identify a win/win solution to just about any problem, possibly because of his gift for insight. Florencio's fellow workers saw him as a supporter and a mentor.
Because Florencio loved to have a broad variety of activities in his life, he took advantage of the opportunity to pursue numerous hobbies. His favorite pursuit is playing competitive tennis and has won several trophies. Florencio had a knack for being able to multi-task in order to create time for all of his favorite pastimes. However, Florencio's ever-present concern for others always took precedent.
Florencio derived much satisfaction from participating in and watching sports. His charisma, supportive nature and ability to improvise when called upon to do so all made perfect attributes for enjoying a great many sporting activities. Recreational sports included tennis. Florencio was also something of a sports fan and enjoyed watching his favorite events whenever he got the opportunity. Tops on his list were tennis and basketball.
Florencio was a man who was dedicated and devoted to his faith. He was a member of Christ the King Church in Bay Area. He was sympathetic and able to empathize with others and he used these qualities to the fullest while working tirelessly for his beliefs.
Florencio was a lover of animals and cherished his pets. Gray, a Russian Blue cat, was a best friend for 10 years. His family was rounded out by his dogs, Jenny, Jake, Queenie, Princess, St George, and R2.
When Florencio's retirement finally came in 2008, Florencio handled it the way he usually did. He adapted and, like everything in his life, made it satisfying. Because he was such a flexible person and able to adjust to any situation, retirement was just another enjoyable change of pace for Florencio to master. His new life involved relocating to the Bay Area. In retirement, he found new pleasure in being Mom's chaperone. Even in retirement, Florencio continued to stay in touch with his old friends and like always, made plenty of new ones.
Florencio Tuazon passed away on July 8, 2023 at Houston Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Paciencia, his children, Mayen and Divina, his daughter-in-law, Lennie, and his sister, Ruperta. Services were held at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home. Florencio was laid to rest in Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
There was always a certain style and inventiveness to Florencio. He was a dynamic, self-expressive person who was forever looking to celebrate the endless possibilities life had to offer. He had a knack for being clever, creative and witty, and for others, was a joy to be around. While he was often fiercely independent, it seemed as if many others looked to Florencio Tuazon for inspiration, leadership, wisdom and even courage. Florencio was always more than willing to share life’s experiences with his loved ones.
