Rene, as he was fondly called by all his family and friends was born on December 21, 1973, to Amelia and Fidencio Romero in Houston, TX. He came to know the Lord as his Savior at a young age and was Baptized on May 23, 1982, at Iglesia Bautista Emmanuel in Houston. After High School, Rene attended Community College in Houston while working part-time for FedEx. He would work full-time at FedEx for the next 30 years. In 1998 he was reacquainted with a High School friend, Genia, and soon they were married on January 22, 2000. They would have 3 children: Samantha, Jacob, and Mia. He was a devoted father known for attending the kids’ recitals and sporting events. Rene loved his family and worked hard to provide for them. He loved to laugh and be silly and created this in his beautiful children. He was so proud of his kids and all their accomplishments past and future. He loved the Lord and worked as the AWANA Commander at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Houston for many years. He had an unwavering faith and loved discussing God’s mysteries and the Goodness of the Lord. He had many close friends, some from childhood and others more recent - his “Baseball Family”; memories, adventures, and inside jokes will hold a special place in our hearts. He loved Star Wars and Top Gun, often quoting lines and watching on a continuous loop. In the words of Luke Skywalker, it’s only right that we would say, “No one’s ever really gone” and “Sorry, Goose, but it’s time to buzz the tower.”
Rene, we cherish you. You were not without flaws, but you were the Husband, Father, Son, Brother, In-law, Cousin, Nephew, and friend we needed, all according to God’s purpose. Your departure was untimely, but we find solace in God’s word: The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18. Your faith was a beacon of light in our lives, guiding us through the darkest times. We take comfort in knowing that you are now in the loving embrace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Rene is preceded in death by his mother, Amelia Romero, and grandparents, Conrado & Lupita Romero and Esteban & Aurelia Garcia. He is survived by his Wife of 24 years, Genia Romero, and his beautiful children Samantha, Jacob, and Mia. His father, Fidencio Romero, sisters Nina and Amanda, and his brother, Jaime (Angie), also survive him. From the cherished memories of our childhood to the adventures of adulthood, we are grateful for every moment we shared with you. You had a large extended family, with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins, all of whom you loved dearly.
Pallbearers: Alex Romero, Dominic Romero, Spencer Tschoepe, Nicholas Williamson, Jackson Corrigan, Cody Vern and Bobby Reynosa.
