Mr. Salinas has always been a favorite customer of mine. On each of my five routes, I have a special customer that stands out-Mr. Salinas was mine on Santa Fe Dr.  He would always acknowledge me whenever he would see me, whether it be delivering mail to his house or passing me by while I was on foot in the neighborhood. We recently had a conversation in his driveway while I was delivering his mail- he gave me such comforting advice as I informed him of my own Mother’s recent passing. He had noticed my brief absence and I explained my Mother’s Cancer journey and the fact that she had lost the battle. He gave me such a beautiful explanation of our brief life here on earth and to accept the Lord’s plan when your loved one is called home. I didn’t know at the time that it would be our last conversation. I’m going to miss his smile,  kindness and energy! He is one of the most energetic 80 year old that I know. I loved to hear and see him dressed to go play his favorite sport: ⛳️ GOLF. He spoke with such passion about the game. I hope he meets my Mother in heaven. Wow, I can just imagine the conversations they will have! I just wanted you to know what a wonderful man he was to me and the everlasting impression he will have in my heart!🌟💙😇

It is with a heavy heart that I write this Message of Condolence to Dolores and her family.  Fred was a wonderful human being.  He always had a smile on his face and a kind word for everyone he met. In all the time that I knew him, I never heard him say anything negative about anybody. His love of golf was surpassed only by his love of family and friends.  The world has lost a great husband, father,  brother, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend. He will be greatly missed.

Both Grandparents were so supportive. It was always a pleasure to have them in the classroom. Thank you for such sweet memories. 

Mr. Freddy Salinas and Family,

My deepest condolences to the Salinas family and his wife. I was fortunate enough to spend many hours with Fred while working at the old Gus Wortham GC. The man loved the game of Golf, the funny thing about Fred was that as much as he loved the game of golf, he spent most of his time at the golf course talking about the love he had for his family and his wife. 

As much as I'd like to say he taught me a lot about the nuance of Golf, what really stuck with me through the years since, was the love he had for his family and the wisdom he had bestowed upon us all. Fred was never short of advice and he certainly had the sincerest of intentions. He was a man that devoted his life to his family and community. Some would say he was a Pillar of our community and I would have to attest to that.

Last week I picked up my golf clubs for the first time in months and thought ever so briefly about Fred Salinas and mostly about how much of a positive influence he was in my decision to go off to college and get a degree. This evening on my commute from work, an old co-worker sent me this obituary, because they knew how highly we regarded Fred for his devotion to his family and community. It saddens me to hear that a friend and mentor has passed, but in passing I hope those that loved him know that his influence lives on through his family, his community and others.

They say a great measure of the impact a person makes in the world, is the noise created in the wake of their absence. I can tell you his absence is deafening.

We were blessed to be part of Fred’s 80th Birthday celebration.

Fred volunteered for dish duty with a couple of outlaws!

Freddy was such a stable force in the Salinas Family. He has a logical way of looking at everything and we trusted his judgment and advice. He was a leader in the Milby Hispanic Alumni's scholarship program efforts. The scholarship golf tournaments he helped organize should henceforth be named in his honor and memory.

My deepest condolences to Dolores and The Salinas Family! What can say to describe Fred that everyone that had the pleasure of knowing Fred did  not know already? All I had to do was call Fred to help me with mom, his first cousin Marina! Fred AND Dolores would  ALWAYS come to the rescue! FRED, “YOU”  HAD A HEART OF PURE GOLD”! “YOU” loved your family so much! As we are so saddened to hear of your sudden departure from this earth…Heaven has received  “A True Angel”! Fred, “YOU”  will dearly be missed! Rest in Peace! ❤️

To the Salinas family.. our deepest condolences and prayers.

Mr. Salinas was such a friendly and delightful gentleman.   Our families' fondest memories are when, Mr. Salinas would randomly show up to our son Lance Lopez golf tournaments in the Greater Houston area, as a junior and college player- UT Austin.   It was always a pleasant surprise to see him and talk golf.   Mr. Salinas's presence and support will never be forgotten.  Special condolences from Lance & Robert.    Lopez Family. 

Just here representing the cousins and extended family who always felt a closeness and intertwining with the Caballero Salinas family because Fred's father Alfonso was the oldest brother to my grandfather Tony. When their father Miguel passed he told my Grandpa Tony that he would work and be the man of the house supporting all of the siblings while Tony could go to school. My Grandpa Tony graduated Milby High School and got a degree from UH. One of the first young Latinos to accomplish that in Houston.  Alfonso was a self taught genius and he raised two amazing sons with Sofia. Grandpa Tony and Alfonso very close brothers and both shared an obsession and love for golfing, I love to see that tradition still alive and well with Fred and his family, I feel my grandpa's presence in many ways when I see them. My mother Rosie and Fred were born two days apart. I imagine Sofia and my Grandmother Margarita both being pregnant together and laughing. When Alfonso was ill, Grandpa Antonio visited him every week. My mother always commented that Fred and Richard were her favorite cousins. She loved their humor, kindness, warmth, fun and beautiful outlook on life. We have felt a kinship. We have lost a man who set an example like his father and raised and leaves a beautiful, very loving, supportive and dynamic family. In our times of need the Salinas family has always been there for us, with a quiet dignity like their father and grandfather Alfonso. Fred was a unique person, one of a kind. He was so respected and loved. He will truly be missed. I am grateful I had Fred in my life. Love always, Marisa

My deepest condolences to Dolores and the family.  Fred was a wonderful, smart, caring, giving, person.  Fred and his family were always helping with our Milby fundraisers.  He did an outstanding job handling the Golf tournament.   A true Milby Buff.   

I certainly will miss him.   May he rest in peace.

I was devastated when I heard about Fred's death.  I had just seen him and Dolores at San Marcos Winter Meeting.  He explained the
procedure he was going to have, and never in a million years would I have thought that's the last time I will see him.  
My memories  of him and Dolores are so very precious and will hold in my heart forever .  He was so knowledgeable on everything about our wonderful organization, Pan American Golf Assn.  He was  courteous, kind, friendly and never met a stanger.  I've know them for probably 35-40 years and their "amistad" I will cherish forever.  May he rest in peace.  All PAGA LOVES YOU FRED.

My deepest sympathies to Fred's family and friends. God Bless him and you all. I hope you find some comfort knowing that he had a life well lived although shorter than we all would have liked. Anyone who knew Fred was better off for that as he was a good man and a good friend. Take care my friend.

To my sweet Dolores Granados Salinas and Family my sincere condolences and prayers to all your family during this difficult time. Fred may you rest in peace with all your angels in Heaven.  Granados’s family are so glad to had a great visit with you and Dolores during the family reunion on March4, 2023.
