FERNANDO GIRÓN was born in Palmira, Colombia, on May 20, 1946 to Inocencio and Carmen Elena Girón. He passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side at his home in Houston, Texas, on December 30, 2020.
In 1968, Fernando moved to New York and worked as a taxi driver. Fernando moved to Houston in 1980 and worked at Bison Building Materials for 12 years. On July 17th of 2000, Fernando was involved in an accident at work that left him in a vegetative state for 20 years.
Fernando is lovingly remembered by his family. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sildana, and their two sons: John and Ivan Girón. His six grandchildren: Paola, Andres, Johanna, Christian, Giovanni, and Alexys Girón. His siblings: Ana Rita and Phanor Girón. He is predeceased by his brother, Bernando.
His daughter-in-laws: Malena, Nelly Giron and ex daughter-in-law Paola Rutledge.
The family would like to extend great thanks to his caregivers: Joyce, Mattie, Louise, and Linda, amongst many others. The support from friends and family over the years has truly been a blessing.
Visitation will be held at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77079, on January 3, 2021 from 3pm-6pm
