Felicitas Martinez

The life story of Felicitas Martinez Alvarez began in her birthplace, in a town called Albercones, municipality of Dr Arroyo Nuevo Leon in the year 1932. She was the daughter of Emeteria Martinez and Victoriano Alvarez. She had a happy home where she grew up with adhering to high moral values. She grew up with a musical influence from her father and brothers who were musicians, because of this Felicitas was fascinated by accordion music. In her adolescence, she worked in the “Cooperativa” store of the ranch and later in the courthouse of Dr Arroyo Nuevo Leon.

At the age of 18, she married Inocencio Martinez and she had 10 children, 9 continue to live to this day. She lived at the “Petaca” ranch and dedicated herself to raising her children, helping her husband to work the land. She lived in the city of Dr. Arroyo so that her children could get an education. Felicitas overcame the obstacle of distance since she walked from her town to her ranch in the morning and then again in the afternoon to continue helping her husband with the ranch. Later she moved to the city of Monterrey Nuevo Leon to ensure her children can continue their education and work, looking for a better life.

Felicitas was very upright and a fighter which ensured that her family was able to move forward in life. In 1980, Felicitas, together with her husband and only a few of her children, immigrated to the United States in search of a better life. Then little by little with her wisdom she brought the rest of her family.

Felicitas was very loved and respected by all her family, her friends, and neighbors. She was a person who always had a smile, was very talkative and respectable and knew how to listen attentively. She was a great administrator and she knew how to save, that's how she and her husband Inocencio bought their little house and they lived very independently. Her house welcomed everyone, and was full of peace and harmony. Felicitas values were; God, love, family and respect.

Felicitas loved playing Mexican bingo (Loteria), it was one of her favorite hobbies. She was very fond of family parties and parties in general. Her favorite drink in the morning was her warm coffee and in the afternoon her oatmeal or “atolito” and from time to time her “Abuelita” hot chocolate.

She passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was an admirable woman and left a great legacy to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She will live in our hearts forever.

La historia de la vida de Felicitas Martinez Alvarez comenzo en su lugar de nacimiento, un poblado llamado Albercones, municipio de Dr. Arroyo, Nuevo Leon en el año 1932. Hija de Emeteria Martinez y Victoriano Alvarez. Tuvo un hogar feliz donde crecio con altos valores morales al lado de su familia. Crecio con la influencia musical ya que su padre y hermanos eran musicos. Debido a esto Felicitas le facinaba la musica de acordion. En su adolecencia trabajo en la tienda coperativa del rancho y despues en el juzgado de Dr. Arroyo, Nuevo Leon.

A los 18 anos se caso con Inocencio Martinez y tuvo 10 hijos hasta el dia de hoy viven 9. Vivio en el rancho la Petaca y se dedico a crear sus hijos, ayudaba a su esposo a trabajar las tierras y cria de ganado como toda mujer de campo en esos tiempos. Vivio en la ciudad de Dr. Arroyo para que sus hijos pudieran estudiar, Felicitas vencio el obstaculo de la distancia ya que caminaba del pueblo al rancho por la mañana y por la tarde para a la misma vez seguir ayudando a su esposo en el rancho. Años despues se mudo a la ciudad de Monterrey, Nuevo Leon para apoyar a sus hijos en sus metas. Esta mujer inteligente y admirable tuvo la vision de que sus hijos se educaran para un mejor porvenir, Felicitas fue muy recta y luchadora para sacar a su familia adelante.

En 1980, Felicitas junto con su esposo y solo algunos hijos emigraron a los Estados Unidos buscando una mejor vida. Despues poco a poco con su sabiduria trajo el resto de su familia. Ella junto con su esposo siguieron viajando a Mexico para seguir dandole calor a sus tierras, algo que difrutaban mucho.

Felicitas fue muy querida y respetada por toda su familia, amigos, y vecinos. Era una persona que siempre tenia una sonrisa, muy platicadora, con muy bonitos modales y sabia escuchar a cada persona. Fue una gran administradora y sabia como ahorrar asi fue como ella y su esposo Inocencio compraron su casita y fueron muy independientes hasta el final. Su casa era casa de todos donde se sentia paz y armonia. Los valores de Felicitas fueron; Dios, Amor, familia y respeto.

A Felicitas le encantaba jugar loteria, era uno de sus mejores pasatiempos. Le gustaban mucho las fiestas familiares y cualquier otra fiesta social. Su bebida favorita por las mañanas era su cafesito bien caliente y por la tarde su atolito de avena o maizena y de vez en cuando su chocolate abuelita.

Ella murio en su casa rodeada de sus hijos y nietos . Fue una mujer admirable y dejo un gran legado a sus hijos, nietos, bisnietos y tataranietos. Ella vivira en nuestros corazones por siempre.
