Faye Kendall was born the 23rd of September 1922, in Lipan, Texas, to Trixie Lee Key and Fred C. Branson. She reunited with her departed loved ones the evening of the 21st of July 2023, at her home in The Tradition. She had celebrated her 100th birthday in September with great fanfare.
Growing up Faye enjoyed living in Dallas, Galveston and Austin. She was The Queen of the Galveston Oleander Festival in 1941 which she said was great fun. Faye attended The University of Texas at Austin where she enjoyed her Pi Beta Phi Sorority and being an Aggie Sweetheart. Meeting Clarence “Ken” Kendall was a turning point in her life, and they married at the midpoint of his Naval service on the USS Essex. When he returned from the war they resided in Austin, New York and Houston, and they enjoyed a 70 year romance full of travel abroad (especially adoring Italy and England), dancing, hunting, adventures with many dear friends, The Petroleum Club, The Warwick Club, and their eagerly anticipated Essex reunions. Faye was involved with her Pi Phi Alumna group, The Blue Bird Circle, The Shepherd School Society, the Houston Bar Association Auxiliary, and St. John’s Church.
Survivors include her sister Martha Branson Lott, nephew Carter Lott, niece Madeline Lott Masterson and her husband Drew, great nephews Drew and his wife Ginny, Blake and his wife Caroline, and great niece Kendall Masterson Cross and her husband Robert, great-great nephews Owen Masterson and Charles Cross, and great-great niece Ellie Masterson, with another baby girl arriving in December. The family would like to thank Veronica Pacheco and her family for the ongoing help and companionship both Faye and Ken enjoyed for so many years.
A memorial service is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon, on Saturday, the 12th of August, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where Rev. Tom Masterson and Drew Masterson, Jr. are to officiate. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent grand foyer.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions in Faye’s memory may be directed to the Blue Bird Circle, 615 W. Alabama St, Houston, TX 77006, the Shepherd School Music, 6100 Main St, Houston, TX 77005; or to a charity of one’s choice.
