Farid Matta Bishara; beloved husband, father, and grandfather; started his journey to heaven as he passed away on April 5, 2022, in which he was 78 years old. He was born on February 7, 1944 in Ramallah Palestine to parents Matta Issa Bishara and Zahia Elias Shunnara.
In 1967, when he was 23 years old, he immigrated to the United States, in which he would later marry his wife Julia on August 16, 1970. They were happily married for over 51 years.
Farid was affectionately known as “Amo” Farid. Translated from Arabic, “Amo” meaning Uncle and his name “Farid” translating to unique and incomparable, which is fitting because his moral and spiritual compass never wavered like the Northern Star.
Amo Farid’s core pillars radiated the essence of his humanity and values which were built on Generosity and Patience, Humbleness and Perseverance, Faith and Peacefulness, Indelible work ethic, and the Love for his family.
Amo Farid’s “green thumb” was intertwined with his faith. Reaping what he sown (James 3:18), his garden was built on peace, patience, nurture, and care. Presided over by the Lady Theotokos, Amo Farid’s Garden became his secret place to pray (Mathew 6:6). We take great comfort that Amo Farid will soon join the “Great Cloud of Witnesses” (Hebrews 12:1) that are alive in Christ looking down upon us from the Kingdom of Heaven.
May God place Angels on both sides of Amo Farid’s shoulders; Watching Over Him, Guiding Him and Protecting Him.
May God Bless him, with his Mercy, Favor, and Grace.
Now unto God, The Father, The Son, and to the Holy Spirit. Forever and Ever. Amen.
Farid Matta Bishara is survived by his wife (Julia); children (Mathew, Cindy, Abla, Salwa and Julie); and grandchildren (Sammy, Michael, Jonathan, Zoey, Zachary, Savannah, and Emery).
A funeral service for Farid will be held Friday, April 8, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at St George Orthodox Christian Church, 5311 Mercer St, Houston, TX 77005. Following the funeral service will be a committal service from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023.
