Ezra Harrison Hersh Jr. died in Houston, TX on Thursday, March 12, 2015. Known to his friends and family as Bud, he was born on September 15, 1921 in Meyerdale, PA. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Fawn Hersh and his 9 brothers and sisters. He’s survived by his 5 children, Judy Foley, Lynn Hersh, Lyle Hersh, Carolyn Huthmacher, and Nancy Artz; 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. During his life he served in WWII in multiple paratrooper divisions, and was honorably discharged. He was a coal and silver miner, a master mechanic, and worked on the DEW Line and the Alaskan Pipeline where he also was a pilot and site manager in Alaska which was his favorite place in the world. He retired in 1987 from Navajo Mining Company in New Mexico. He was an avid fossil and mineral enthusiast and he also loved his family, fishing, hunting, oil painting, gold panning, cooking, and bingo.
