Evelyn M Stowers

Evelyn Martha Mokry Stowers, age 95, of Eagle Lake, TX passed away on August 21, 2023. She was born in Granger, TX on July 22,1928 to Charles and Hattie Mokry. She was married to the late Robert Earl Stowers for 66 years.

She graduated from the Seton School of Nursing in Austin, TX and had an accomplished career as a Registered Nurse in Houston including working at the Veterans Administration Hospital in the 1950s. She was a founding member of the Eagle Lake Preservation Alliance, Inc., serving as their only president from 1999 to present. She was appointed to the Colorado County Historical Commission.Growing up a devout Catholic, her passions were her faith, family, Czech heritage, historical preservation, and world travel.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, her mother and father, and her sisters and brothers-in-law Minnie and Ben Petrusek, Hedy and Randy Reininger, Ann and Jack Agness.

She is survived by her children Robert Earl Stowers II and wife Lisa of San Antonio, Eve Lee Lucas and husband Robert of Eagle Lake, Scott Charles Stowers and wife Janith of Conroe, and grandchildren Cameron Stowers, Shannon Stowers, Brynna Lucas Spiess (Joshua), Morgan Stowers and Scott Tyler Stowers.

Visitation will be held Sunday, Aug 27, 2023 from 2-4 p.m. at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home. 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston,TX. Visitation Monday, Aug 28, 2023 from 9-10 a.m. at Parish of the Nativity Catholic Church, 308 N. Stevenson St., Eagle Lake, TX followed by Rosary 10 a.m., Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be held at 12:30 p.m. at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
