Evelyn, a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, went home to be with our Lord on March 4, 2011. Evelyn was born in Tomball, Texas on August 4, 1915. Her natural green thumb and love of gardening was nurtured at a young age by her parents Lora Rutherford Laird and Arch J. Laird, both sharecroppers during the depression. Even in blindness, she giftedly tended to beautiful roses and hearty vegetables. When her sight was still strong, Evelyn was an expert seamstress, lovingly sewing years of Easter dresses and play outfits for her grandchildren. She has also gifted her loved ones with her beautiful handmade quilts. Evelyn cherished her years of worship and service at Glenn Rose Baptist Church where she changed many diapers, kissed many boo-boo’s and told many Bible stories in the nursery.
