Doris Evelyn Allen was born in DeQuincy, Louisiana on July 2, 1923 and passed away on August 30, 2016. She was preceded in death by her mother, Bessie Mae Smith Richards, her father, Andrew Royer, nephew John E. James, and sister, Marjorie Mae Flower. Evelyn is survived by her nieces, Lennie James, Sharyn Flower, Paula Hopkins and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was raised in Louisiana, later living in Beaumont, Texas, where she made her life for many years. In the 70s, Evelyn moved to Houston to be near her mother, sister and family, and there she lived for the remainder of her life.
Evelyn was an incredibly accomplished woman, living her life to the fullest and with great love of family and friends. She was a successful banker, Realtor, an accomplished golfer, Master Bridge Player and she loved going to the hunting lease with friends to fish and to be near nature.
As life progressed and Evie and Margie aged, Evie went to live with Margie and later Lennie joined them as well. The three of them had many wonderful years together. Margie passed away April 29, 2014, and life was never the same. Losing Margie left a deep hole in the hearts of Evelyn and all of the family.
Aunt Evie, losing you saddens us deeply. We love and miss you, and will hold you within our hearts forever.
