Evelia Salinas 86 of Mission, Texas passed away in her daughter’s home surrounded by her family on August 20, 2023. Evelia was born in Mexico to Mr. Jose Aurelio Salinas and Mrs. Aminta Garza. Evelia was raised in Sharyland (Mission) from the age of 5 years old where she lived until she was 85 years old. She spent the last year living in Houston with her daughter Rosie.
Evelia enjoyed gardening when she was able to, she also enjoyed going out to eat at restaurants. She always liked feeding the stray cats that came looking for food and always was ready to feed the neighbor’s dog (Munequita) when she came to her front door. She mostly enjoyed her long talks on the telephone with her sister and nieces. She was most happy when she was able to visit and spend weeks with her daughter in Houston. Evelia was a very proud, loving grandmother to her 4 grandchildren and recently had the joy of meeting her only great grandson.
Evelia is survived by her daughter Rosalinda Gallegos and her husband (Rudy), her son Tomas Salazar and his wife (Mindy), her son Roberto Salazar, 4 grandchildren: Robert Jr, Briana, Giovanni and Giuliana, her only great grandson Israel and her brother Sergio Salinas and his wife (Vicky) and many nieces and nephews. Seeing her grandchildren lit up her eyes and put a smile on her face. She is preceded in death to her parents Jose Aurelio Salinas, mother Aminta Salinas, sister Carlota Garcia, brother Saul Salinas and brother Salvador Salinas. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Memorial Services are entrusted to Brookside Funeral Home – Cypress Creek, 9149 Highway 6 North: Houston, Texas 77095. Visitation will be held Saturday, August 26, 2023, at 3:30 to 5:00 PM followed by a memorial service from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM. There will be a reception held at Alicia’s Mexican Grille 26326 NW Freeway, Cypress Texas 77429 for those who wish to celebrate her life with family.
