Born on August 6th, 1953, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Evangeline was the cherished middle child of the late Calvin Harris, Jr. and Marguerite Johnson Harris. She is survived by her siblings Jeanette Dale and Nathan Harris, while being preceded in death by her sister, Juanita Butler. Evangeline was survived by her sibling Emanual Harris, who has now joined her in eternal rest.
Evangeline’s, affectionately known as Auntie Van or Miss Van, life was deeply intertwined with that of her late husband, Freddie Donald Joseph, Jr., whom she considered the love of her life. They officially became husband and wife on August 25th, 1971, marking the beginning of an incredible 45-year journey together. Remarkably, their connection began even earlier, unofficially dating since the tender age of 13 years old. Their enduring love story became a testament to commitment and companionship.
A graduate of George Washington Carver Senior High School in 1971, Evangeline went on to lead a life rich in love and relationships. She dedicated her time and energy to caring for children, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of those she nurtured. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her own family, earning her the admiration and gratitude of many friends in the community.
Evangeline's aptitude for bookkeeping showcased her keen intellect and attention to detail. She found joy in the meticulous world of numbers, bringing order to financial matters. Her contributions were not only professional but also reflected her commitment to ensuring the stability and well-being of her family.
A lover of music and parties, Evangeline found solace and joy in the melodies that accompanied her throughout life. Whether it was the rhythmic beats of her favorite tunes or the soulful melodies that resonated with her heart, music and gatherings became a cherished part of her identity.
Above all, Evangeline's greatest passion was her family. Her devotion to her two children, Juanettaline Marie Joseph and Dr. Freddie Donald Joseph III, was unwavering. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and familial bonds that will continue to inspire and comfort those she touched.
As we mourn the loss of Evangeline Ann Joseph, let us also celebrate the vibrant life she lived and the enduring impact she had on those fortunate enough to know her. And lets do as she would by remembering to always invoke the eternal spirit of laissez les bons temps rouler!
