Born in Elyria Ohio, Evan graduated with honors from Bellaire High School in 1957. He attended Rice University on full scholarship, graduating in 1963 with degrees in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
Shortly before graduation, he won the heart of his soul mate, Suellen Burns. They were married in 1963 and enjoyed a 53 year love affair that Evan acknowledged as his greatest gift.
On the cutting edge of the race to space, Evan’s first post-graduate job was structural design for NASA’s Gemini program. Fascinated by the immerging field of computer software and hardware, Evan taught himself computer design and coding.
He was then recruited by Mcdonnell Automation, a division of Mcdonnell Douglas, where he met his future business partners and life-long friends, Douglas King and the late Jim Bridges.
Together, they founded and took public, Synercom Technology. Synercom developed the first Geographic Information System software and hardware products. Evan also served as a structural analyst for many famous foreign and local buildings and projects.
Evan later founded ForeFront Group. Again, ahead of his time, Evan saw the potential of the first real time groupware software developed by Baylor College of Medicine Technology. The innovative software allowed multiple users in multiple locations across many IOS platforms, to work on the same documents and videos in real time. One of their developments was Telemedicine, used worldwide today. Always embracing the future, Evan’s later years were filled with the joys of being a grandfather.
Evan was proceed in death by his parents, Gwendolyn and Phillip Pappas. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Suellen Pappas, his children, Susan Sanders and husband John, as well as his daughter, Jennifer Blancas and husband Jerome.
