Eunice Bolanle Adewunmi was born on January 15, 1962 to Rachel Abiola Orunja and Sunday Thomas Ogunrinde; both of Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria. As a child, Bola enjoyed taking care of her younger siblings and exuding a true servants heart. She loved making sure everyone was taken care of! In 1976, Bola joined the Scripture Union Society and officially gave her life to Christ. From there, the torch was ignited and Bola began running her race towards God’s majestic throne room. In the mid-90’s, Bola created El-Shaddai Ministries in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Throughout this time, Bola diligently invested her time into tending to the flock of Christ. As her years in ministry progressed, she was twice ordained through Joan Hunters Ministries (2006) and Morris Cerullo World Evangelism (2007). Upon moving to the United States, El-Shaddai Ministries was transformed into New Creation Revival Ministries International. From hosting prayer meetings in her families’ living room, to meetings at the local Holiday Inn, Bola mobilized her ministry to spread the Gospel of Jesus. In 2012, Bola created Bola Adewunmi Global Mission Outreaches (BAGMO). This ministry was dedicated to performing medical missions in Nigeria and Tanzania and most importantly, preaching the gospel with a message of hope, health, and healing. Along with her passion for ministry, Bola loved writing, sewing, and makeup! She is the author of seven inspirational novels. She also created her own business, Debola Designs, where she designed trendy, colorful scrub hats. There is nothing that Bola could not create! Bola’s freedom was another business venture that partnered with the Younique makeup brand. They held the mission to uplift, empower, and validate women with a percentage of profits allocated toward fighting domestic violence and human trafficking. Bola truly did it all.
Bola started her educational career at African Church Grammar school, then transitioned to Lagos State School of Nursing where she catapulted her successful 35 year career as a Registered Nurse. After making the brave decision to move her family to Winnipeg Canada, Bola garnered her Bachelor’s of Science degree from the University of Manitoba and continued her career as a Labor and Delivery Nurse. Her spirit of excellence in her earthly ministry was evident when she was recognized by the Houston Chronicle’s Salute to Nurses as one of 150 top nurses in the city in 2016. In 1983 during her time at Lagos State School of Nursing, she met her husband Bamidele Adewunmi. The two wed on April 28, 1984 and later that year, the happy couple welcomed their first child, Akingbolabo Adewunmi. Over the course of their marriage, the couple welcomed their second child, Olufikayo Adewunmi, third, Oluwatoyosi Adewunmi, and fourth, Oluseyi Adewunmi. Bola and Dele shared 35 years of love, accompanied with the joy of watching their children grow in the Lord and live a life of success.
Bola is preceded in death by her mother, Rachel Abiola Orunja, and her father Sunday Thomas Ogunrinde. She is survived by her loving husband Dele Adewunmi (Houston, TX), her four wonderful children, Akin (Calgary, CA), Fikayo, Toyosi, and Seyi Adewunmi (Houston, TX). and two beautiful grandchildren, Aaliyah (Omotara) Adewunmi, and Demarion (Shola) Adewunmi (Calgary, CA); Her senior sister Olayide Okunnu (Lagos, Nigeria), cherished younger brothers Tokunbo Okunnu (Winnipeg, MA), Kehinde Okunnu (Winnipeg, MA), a beloved younger sister, Taiwo Okunnu (Calgary, CA), a lovely (grand)niece, Adedoyin Oyenuga (Calgary, CA), and many more nieces, nephews, in-laws, family, and friends who will cherish her memory and keep her legacy of compassion, wisdom, generosity, and love alive.
