Eugenia Mae Johnson was born on March 5, 1951 in Galveston, Texas to Rosa Lee Williams and Eugene McCardell. Eugenia moved to Houston, Texas, where she attended Lockett Junior High School and San Jacinto High School, under the care of Malinda Gardner. Eugenia Johnson united with Earnest Johnson and was blessed with two daughters Sharon Deniece Johnson and Stephanie Renae Johnson. Eugenia Johnson was a faithful member and served on the Usher Board at Goodwill Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Henry Jones. She later joined Riceville Mount Olive Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Terry Mackey. She remained faithful until her health no longer permitted. Eugenia Johnson graduated from Hargest Vocational College. She went on to work for Prudential/Aetna Insurance Company as a Benefits Consultant with the National Accounts Team. In later years, during her retirement, she worked for Target Department Stores. In her spare time, she could be found working as an election worker for the Democratic Party in Texas. On June 21, 2016, Eugenia Johnson made her heavenly transition. She was preceded in death by her mother, Rosa Lee Williams; her father, Mr. Eugene McCardell; stepmother, Rita McCardell of Galveston, Texas; her daughter, Sharon Deniece Johnson; her brother, Melvin Williams; and stepbrothers, Roosevelt “Pete” Mack and Frederick Solomon, both of Galveston, Texas. She leaves, to cherish her memory: her daughter, Stephanie Johnson; son-in-law Ronald Johnson; and grandchild, Brock Johnson. She is also survived by her devoted sisters, Tommie Jean Moguel of Galveston and Gloria Diaab of North Carolina; brothers, Martin Jarvis Jackson and Kenneth Taylor, both of Galveston; stepsister, Renee Hardeman of Galveston; stepbrother, Jarvett Adams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors.
