She attended Central High School and was a graduate of Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi. She was an Elementary school teacher throughout her working career. She was a member of Chi Omega Alumni and the Hedwig Village Garden Club and an active volunteer for the Ronald McDonald House in Houston, The Center for Retarded and the Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bennie Lee and Julia Louise Lauchly; and her sister, Judy Lauchly Edwards. Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband, William J. Johnson; son, William Douglas Johnson and wife, Betsy; daughter, Sheryl Eugenia Johnson Mills and husband, Scott; grandson, Kyle Scott Mills; and granddaughter, Lauchly Elizabeth Johnson. She was, most of all, a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother.
A memorial service will be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Saturday, the 13th of December in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive, in Houston, Texas. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent grand foyer of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons.
