Eugene Ridgeway Farren, born October 23, 1928 in Beaumont, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2014. Gene served in The United States Marine Corps during the Korean War, and traveled around the world during his time with the S.O. Standard. Perhaps his proudest professional achievement was his career with Dupont, which spanned over 30 years and included work on plants in Niagra Falls, Corpus Christi, and Beaumont.
At home, Gene and his loving wife of 60 years, Nell Farren enjoyed dancing and spending time in nature on the family property in Victory Heights, Pennsylvania. He especially loved college and professional football as a steadfast fan of The University of Texas Longhorns, The Dallas Cowboys, and of course, The Houston Texans.
Gene is survived by his wife, Nell Farren; son, Michael Gene Farren and wife Deborah; daughter, Rhonda Sheryl Millsap and husband Stacy; and two loving granddaughters, Michele Elizabeth and Daniele Rose Farren, whose instrumental talents always brought him full-hearted happiness.
Visitation will take place on Monday, December 29, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. with a Celebration of Gene’s Life commencing at 10:00 a.m. All services will take place in the Chapel at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. Burial will follow at 4 p.m. at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, Texas.
