Ethel was born on December 20, 1927 in Sugar Land, Texas to Charles and Lucille Butler. She graduated from Sugar Land High School in 1946. She married Charles Dierks on June 1st, 1946. In 1949, the couple welcomed their son Kenneth whom she adored her entire life. In 1953, Ethel began working for Humble Oil and Refining, which later became Exxon. After 33 years of service, Ethel retired from in 1986.
Ethel loved playing bridge and was very good at sewing. Ethel was an active and dedicated member of the Fair Haven United Methodist Church at 1330 Gessner Road in Houston, Texas. She also loved animals including her own many dogs and cats.
Ethel is survived by her husband Charles Dierks, son Kenneth Dierks and his wife Judy West, brothers; Max Sidney Sturm, Lawrence Sturm and Charles Butler. She is also survived by her grandchildren Michelle Johnson and her husband David, Micheal Dierks and his wife Lorena, great grandchildren; Marissa Dierks, Madalyn, Kelly and Ryan Johnson, Oriana Matos and Ethan Dierks. She is preceded in death by her parents Lucile and Max Sturm and brother Richard Strum.
A private family funeral officiated by Rev. Bob Luton will take place at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home and Cemetery followed by a private committal service.
