Esther Pui Hing Wong

At age 88, Esther entered Heaven on Wednesday, June 16th.

Her funeral service will be held on Friday, June 25, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, Texas. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.

Born July 1, 1932 in Hong Kong to Yuen Chee Wan and Yuen Chan Lai Yin. Esther was a loving sister to her 11 siblings and strived to keep her entire family united. Baptized in the Baptist church as a young girl, Esther continued her life as a devout Christian. Esther graduated from university in Taiwan and taught at an orphanage school. She married Len Wong, her husband of 63 years, in Hong Kong. They began their family together in Greytown, New Zealand, where their two sons were born. They later moved to Birmingham, United Kingdom and welcomed a daughter. Finally, the Wongs settled in Houston, Texas in 1969. Esther was very family oriented, loved cooking for her grandchildren and enjoyed being surrounded by her own family as well as her siblings.

Beloved wife, sister, mother, MaMa, PoPo, BakMa, BakPo and aunt to many.

Esther is survived by husband Len Wong; 3 children Matthew Wong (Daughter-in-law, Cissie), Joseph Wong (Daughter-in-law, Sandra) and Cynthia Gray (Son-in-law, Jim); 6 grandchildren Brittany Wong, Jessica Wong Clark (Grandson-in-law, Jesse), Andrew Wong (Granddaughter-in-law, Nujhat), Kimberly Gray, Kyle Gray (Granddaughter-in-law, Allison) and Kaitlin Franz (Grandson-in-law, Klint); and 2 great granddaughters Adelyn Clark and Leah Gray. Her siblings, William Yuan, Stephen Yuen, Olive Lim, Betty Mei, Alfred Yuen, Patrick Yuen, Lucy Wong and Lulu Leung, will greatly miss their sister. She is preceded in death by her parents and 3 brothers Raymond Yuen, David Yuen and Vincent Yuen.

Serving as pallbearers are Andrew Wong, Kyle Gray, Klint Franz, Mike Yuen, Donald Yuan and Nelson Castellon.
