Esther Lew

Esther Lew, age 99, of Houston, TX went home to be with the Lord on May 10, 2023. Esther was born in Sookai, China on March 15, 1924 to Din and Chun Moy Chew. Esther and her family moved to El Paso, Texas in 1938. She married Sinn Lew on June 25, 1946 and was a devoted mother to 5 children. Together, Sinn and Esther established several businesses: E & S Lew’s Grocery, Ben Franklin Store and Lew Food Store.

As a faithful Christian, Esther was an active member of Grant Avenue Baptist Church. She served on the Women’s Missionary Union, sang in the choir, and taught Sunday School. She also enjoyed several hobbies such as floral arrangement, cooking, and sewing. In 1992, Esther and Sinn retired and moved to Houston, Texas. She continued her church life involvement at Northwest Chinese Baptist Church and, subsequently, at Chinese Baptist Church. Esther had a generous spirit and loving personality and was beloved by many people who knew her.

Preceded in death by her husband, Sinn, she is survived by 5 children, 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

A visitation with be held at 10 am and celebration of life service at 11 am on June 3, 2023 at Chinese Baptist Church.
