Essie Ruth Wells

Essie Wells, 84, of Houston, Texas passed away peacefully on January 7, 2014 surrounded by family. Essie Ruth Young was born January 12, 1929 in Houston, Texas. Essie married James Wells March 26, 1948 and they remained married for 56 years until his death in 2004. She is also a retiree from Houston Independent School District after 30 years of service. Essie was an active member of the Burbank Church of Christ for most of her adult life. She is survived by her children Al Wells and his wife Bonnie and Autumn Mountjoy & husband Gary; grandchildren James Yancey, Melanie Graham, Courtney Santore, Amanda Taylor, Jeff Smith and Greg Smith; great grandchildren Mackenzie, Isabella, Ford, Marlena, Brooklyn, Grace and Max; sisters Peggy Mason and Mary Sealy. She is preceded in death by husband James A. Wells, parents Inez Sowders Fenner and siblings Milton Young and Doris Christopher. A special thanks to the staff at the Terrace at Willowbrook, The Hampton at Willbrook and VITAS Hospice who all took such loving care.
