Erwin Willie Hilscher

Family visitation will be from 4pm-5pm. The family will welcome visitors from 5pm-8pm on Monday February 16, 2015 at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston Tx.

Funeral services will be at 12 noon, Tuesday, February 17, 2015. Burial will follow at the Veterans Memorial Cemetary.

Erwin was born on September 10, 1925 to Emil and Annie Hilscher in Swiss Alp, Tx. He was the 3rd of 10 children. He grew up in southern Texas. He served in the Army

twice, ending his service in 1960.

He married Lency Mae Green on September 22, 1952. She passed away in 1965.

He married Mary Alice Lee on August 9, 1969. She passed away in 2001.

Erwin was a truck driver with Brown & Root, owned a restaurant with his first wife, owned his own dump truck, was a hotshot driver for a while, ending his driving career delivering auto parts, retiring in the mid 1980's.

Erwin spent most of his life in the state of Texas, moving to Illinois in 2003 and later to Kansas in 2010.

Survivors include his children; Dixie Joann (Bill) Tullos, Cleveland, TX; Billy Long, Portland, OR; Ruth Ann Woolsey, Liberty Hill, TX; Marie Lyming, Lawrence, KS; Grant (Sherry) McCoy, Lawrence, KS; Kimberly Wren, Ft. Riley, KS; Sherry McCoy Albright, Willis, TX; Mary Ellen Hutchens, Lawrence, KS; His brothers Anton (Joann), Victoria, TX; John (Mary Ann),Victoria,TX; Edward, Houston, TX; and his sister Juliette (Ron) Westphal, Arlington, TX, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Leona Bass and Anna Mae Smith, and his brothers Marvin, George, and Clarence.

He was a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great great grandfather. He was a truly amazing man and we will love him and miss him every day.

Family suggests memorial contributions be sent in his name to either the Alzheimer's Association or to the Houston Humane Society. Due to limitations at cemetary, please limit any floral contributions to potted plants only.
