At an early age, Ervin began his education in the Houston Independent School District and graduated from Phyllis Wheatley High School in 1968.
Ervin was employed and worked for Weldon Cafeteria before being drafted by the U.S. Armed Forces in May of 1969. He was a cook in the armed forces, and this began his love for cooking. After rendering service to his country for two years, Ervin received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army in May of 1971. He was also employed by Simpson Paper Mill for nearly 30 years. He later became employed by Harris County Toll Road Authority where he later retired.
Baseball was Ervin’s favorite sport. His favorite past time was shooting pool and roller skating. He won many trophies shooting pool.
Ervin married Gracie Brown in 1972 and there were 3 children within this union, LaTonya Davis Gunter, Deaflous Davis and Toymika Davis Lewis. He had another daughter Sharron Roberson English.
On August 25, 2023, Ervin departed his life on earth, and it was the will of GOD to call him to his eternal home.
Preceding Ervin in death are both parents: Mack Earnest Davis and Ida B. Barnes Davis; two brothers, Maurice Davis, Sr. and an infant baby brother.
Ervin leaves to cherish his memories 3 daughters: LaTonya Gunter (Alex), Toymika Lewis (Robert), and Sharron English; one son, Deaflous Davis Sr., two sisters; Jacqueline Reynolds and Zella Anderson; 6 grandchildren; Robert Jr., Aniya, Deaflous Jr., Jarel, Kamron and Landyn; 3 aunts, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a special friend, Hazel Thompson.
