Dearest family of Ericka,
The world has lost a beautiful soul. Ericka was kind, as she was always caring about everyone around her. She asked questions, real questions, and she listened to your answers. She followed up to check on life with everyone around her. Ericka called my daughter "my little redhead" when I shared stories with her. Every time she came to the office or campus with me, I made sure my daughter went to see Ericka - even in her awkward ages. Ericka loved everyone - especially in their awkward phases!

With students and teachers alike, Ericka knew how to help them engage. She saw them as people, met them where they were, and then guided them with authentic interest in their learning. She taught teachers by example, me included. 

Ericka is missed already by those she touched in education. I can only image how much the hearts are breaking of her loved ones.

Dear Lawton Family,
I worked with Ericka at Eckert Intermediate. She was so nice to me and helped with my room setup.  We continued our friendship on and off campus.  She will be greatly missed.

May God continue to comfort you during your loss.  My prayers are with your family.

Ericka, you will be sorely missed by your friends and family.  You were a gentle, kind and compassionate soul who left this world too early.  I will always remember our laughs together.  I still can't believe you're gone.

Ericka I will truly miss you, but I am so glad that I had you in my life.  We had the best of times working together and sharing our thoughts about life, living, hurting, and all the joys that we experienced.  What wonderful memories.  I know your soul is with the Lord now and I know he welcomed you with open arms.  What a wonderful and beautiful person.  Love you.

My third year teaching, I was ready to quit. I thought- This is it. I was frustrated and had lost hope. Erika helped me find my joy again. I am still teaching 13 years later because of her passion in STEM. I am profoundly grateful to have been inspired by her. I am deeply hurt by this loss but I know her legacy is in each of us who have been transformed by her. In prayer. - Rosario

My condolences to Ericka's family. I was one of the many teachers whom Ericka taught in the REMSL program. She was very kind and happy to share her knowledge. I always enjoyed being in her class.
