Eric A. Ulmer was born on April 21, 1970, in Gainesville, FL. He is survived by his mother Bonnie Ulmer, brother Ken W. Ulmer, and son Austin Tyler Ulmer. He is preceded in death by his father Kenneth “Butch” Ulmer and brother Christopher M. Ulmer. Eric is a 1988 graduate of Jersey Village High School.
Eric was a hard worker and dependable employee. He always looked for opportunities to help the family business grow and prosper. He was an honorable, loving, and caring man who was abundantly full of life.
Eric was a friend to anyone who met him. He was blessed to have strong bonds with many, many people. He was often heard giving advice to those who needed it. But be ready because he told it like it is! He was always a shoulder to cry on. Eric had a sarcastic wit that only he could get away with, although we think he passed it on to Austin. If you weren’t paying attention, he’d get one by you then laugh because you missed it. He was a constant source of humor and often picked on the people he cared most about.
Eric took great pride in his BBQ and catering. He loved cooking with Pat, Jim, Jeff, Dustin, Scuba Steve and Scott. He loved having friends and family over to enjoy meals and celebrate life’s blessings. Many of us will miss that BBQ!
Eric’s other passions in life were hunting and fishing. Beyond everything, his greatest loves were his family, especially his son Austin. Eric’s life changed with the birth of his pride and joy. From that day forward, his focus in life was his son. Eric was extremely proud of the young man Austin has become and was looking forward to seeing what Austin would do with his life. He knew, like the rest of us, that whatever it is, Austin will succeed.
Eric passed away on May 10, 2014 at the age of 44. He leaves behind countless treasured memories shared with family and many, many friends.
