Sir Engr. Emmanuel Olukayode Fashokun, born on September 11, 1940, into the Imose Family Ruling House, Imesi-Ile, Osun State, Nigeria, passed peacefully into eternity to be with his Lord and Savior on September 4, 2024. He attended both Otapete Methodist Schools in Imesi-Ile and in Ilesha for his primary education and in 1955 went to Ilesha Grammar School for his secondary education. He attended the School of Agriculture in Akure. In 1960, he attended Nigerian College of Arts and Technology Zaria (later Ahmadu Bello University) for his Advanced Levels and it was where he obtained his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 1966.
He worked for the Electricity Corporation of Nigeria (ECN) later National Electric Power Authority (NEPA) for 32 years until his meritorious retirement in September 2000 as the Director of Civil Engineering. While there, he was instrumental to the construction of power generation and distribution infrastructure all over Nigeria. During his career, he attended courses in Electrical Engineering at Winchester, England. On his job assignments, he visited several countries across the continent of Europe, Asia, South America and North America. He was very much loved by his colleagues. He excelled in school and in his career and touched so many lives professionally.
Emmanuel met his wife in 1956. They got married on July 26th, 1969, at Otapete Methodist Church in Imesi-Ile. They had three children. He was a great family man, a good husband and an excellent father to his children. He always put his family before himself and never complained. Even during tough times, he always had a smile for everyone.
He was a man of deep faith. A committed Christian, he regularly attended the Cypress Methodist Church in Houston, Texas and maintained strong ties with his home churches, Tinubu Methodist Church in Lagos, and the Otapete Methodist Church at Imesi-Ile where he was awarded a Knighthood of John Wesley (KJW).
Sir Engineer Emmanuel Olukayode Fashokun was a devoted father, grandfather, father-in-law, uncle, and brother to his siblings. He found joy in the company of family, relatives, and friends. Many of his friends were family to him. He cherished the game of soccer and was a Manchester United fan.
He is survived by his Wife Fehintola, Son Adebola, Daughters Adenike and Folashade, adoring grandchildren, brothers, nephews, nieces, in-laws, numerous other relatives and close friends.
Events will be held in his honor at Houston, Texas and Lagos, Nigeria. He will be laid to rest at his place of birth, Imesi-Ile, Nigeria.
